Summary of the Event:
The Onam celebration at our HISG was held on 6th September 2025. The festivities began after the first break, with students enthusiastically decorating their classrooms with beautiful Pookalam (floral designs), showcasing their creativity and spirit of teamwork.
Following the decorations, everyone gathered in the Guindy Auditorium for a common assembly. The program was commenced by Ms.Shobana Abraham and Ms. Mary Cynthia. This was followed by the traditional lighting of the Kuthuvilakku by our Executive Director, Rtd. Lt. General Bobby Mathew Sir, along with the Dean of Academics, Mr.Johnson Mathew Sir, and our beloved Principal Ma’am. Dr. CK Lalli.
The cultural events began shortly after, featuring a well-narrated performance on the legendary story of King Mahabali and Lord Vamana, capturing the mythological significance behind Onam. Students beautifully portrayed the tale through engaging storytelling, music, and dramatization.
The event concluded with a vibrant and energetic traditional dance performance by Gr 10 learners, bringing alive the festive spirit of Kerala. Dressed in traditional attire, the performers captivated the audience and created a truly joyful atmosphere.
The celebration was a heartfelt tribute to the values of unity, prosperity, and cultural heritage that Onam represents. It was a day filled with colour, joy, and community bonding. The spirit of Onam was clearly reflected in the enthusiasm of both students and faculty, reminding us of the importance of tradition, togetherness, and gratitude in our lives.
